Chamberlain Scholarship Guidelines

The AFP Foundation for Philanthropy is proud to offer the Chamberlain Scholarship Program for the 2012 International Conference on Fundraising.  This program is designed to help individuals serving nonprofit organizations develop their knowledge and skill in fundraising.  The Foundation invites all chapters to participate in the program by following these guidelines:

·        Chamberlain scholars receive the full cost of conference registration less a $10 processing fee.  Chamberlain Scholars are responsible for registering themselves for the Conference and for making all travel and lodging arrangements using a special Chamberlain Scholar Registration Form that will be provided to them in a packet of materials from AFP International Headquarters.

·         The Mahoning/Shenango AFP Chapter will provide an additional scholarship up to $500 to help recipients with travel and other associated costs. The $500 additional Chapter Scholarship will be paid directly to the individual or his/her employer organization.  The recipient is required to submit all receipts to the chapter treasurer in order for the scholarship payment to be processed.  Mileage will be reimbursed as per the current IRS rate

The Chamberlain Scholar will be selected based on the following criteria:

·         Candidate is employed as a fundraising professional or, if candidate is an executive director, a substantial amount of time must be devoted to fundraising.

·         Candidate must be an AFP member.

·         Candidate has never attended an AFP or NSFRE International Conference on Fundraising as a registered participant (unless as a member of the Conference Host Committee).

·         Candidate must agree to make a brief presentation at a chapter event highlighting his or her experience at the International Conference.

·         Candidate’s submitted essay makes a compelling case for the need and value of attendance at the International Conference and his or her personal commitment to the fundraising profession.
